Tamino had an appointment at the vet today to have his teeth professionally cleaned. After almost 5 years of dry-food-addictedness it was about the time to have this done. Although our charinthian vet couldn’t use my favourised inhalative anaesthesia and it didn’t all go well without complications, he’s fine, now recovering in my mother’s arms.
As we don’t have toddler scales at home, it was quite a surprise to find out Tamino weighs full 8kg (18lbs) but is a little bit too round to be honest. His dietary food (that he’s already been eating for months) will now be filled into cute little plastic balls to keep him moving. Eager to find out what he thinks of that!

a hymn to Ice

Have to sing a hymn to my big babyface Ice! Ever since her mother Ayla raised her litter in a quite unconventional way (nursing? yeah, later… cleaning babies? honestly? me?) a part of me feared that this might be hereditary in one way or another and Ice might turn out to be a princess as well who is too busy being beautiful to care for kittens.
How silly these fears were! Ice has kept a very close eye on Kiki’s babies ever since their birth. She’s pushing them back when they’ve ran too far, she’s collecting toys for them and helps chasing them arround… and she’s cleaning the babies! Yes, not only a gentle lick down the back but a real mommy-style clean-up just like Kiki does.
If she hadn’t tried to drink from Kiki herself these days, I’m sure, the babies would actually be raised by two mothers!
Jollito, lord of the laundry basket

Jollito has quite a thing for our bathroom. He likes to watch as I clean my teeth, to take care no kitten got into the washing machine before I turn it on… and to inspect every single drop that makes its way into the bathtub. And go beware you ever close the door in front of him in a busy morning schedule… there is someone to keep an eye on the laundry basket, right?
If you look closely… well, you see that he’s had an appointment with the hair clipper because cleaning himself caused him a couple of bad hairballs that even malt paste wouldn’t get out normally. There’s health first, always.
But looking very closely, you can see that our little boy has finally started to mature. He’s 11 months by now, grown into a very “selkirk” cat. Yes, he has his very own faults but you can’t blame him to be a curly British or curly Persian, can you?
If he’s to be blamed of anything, it’s the sticky paws he gets when cat litter slightly dissolves as he gets wet in the tub…
